This policy explains what BelleIndex collects, why, and what you can do about it. BelleIndex is a platform that connects customers with independent businesses; each business you deal with is responsible for how it handles information you give it directly, including at your appointment.
Account details. Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, preferred language, and your password in hashed form. We never store your password as readable text.
Licence details, for professionals. Licence type, number, issuing state and the photo or PDF you upload, so we can verify you are qualified to offer the services you list.
Service requests. What you asked for, the location you entered, dates, budget, any notes, and any inspiration photos you attach.
Bookings and reviews. Bookings you make and reviews you write.
Your rating. Appointments you kept, missed, or cancelled inside 24 hours, and any dispute you file about a mark on your rating. There is a section on this below.
If you use the app. A notification token for your device, so we can send you alerts, and your device's language so we can show the app in it. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
If you sign in with Apple or Google. Your name and an email address, passed to us by them. If you use Apple's Hide My Email we receive a relay address rather than your real one, and that is all we need.
Messages. Messages you send and receive on BelleIndex. They are checked automatically for phone numbers, emails, sexual content and home-visit requests to enforce our safety rules, and our team may read them when a report, ban or dispute needs reviewing.
Ratings and safety records. Ratings and tags each side gives the other (such as on time, cancelled or unpaid), safety warnings, reports and bans.
Credits and purchases. Your credit balance, what you used credits on, and credit purchases. Card payments are handled by our payment processor — we do not see or store your card number.
Fair-use signals. When you book or enter a draw we check timing and device signals (for example how fast a button was pressed and your browser type) to keep automated tools from grabbing spots.
Technical data. A session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your language, plus standard server logs.
To run your account, show your request to relevant businesses, let you and a business arrange a booking, verify licences, enforce our safety rules, keep bookings fair, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to support enquiries, and keep the platform secure.
When you post a service request, the details you enter are shown to professionals who can offer that service so they can respond. Your contact details are not published on the public site. Reviews you write appear publicly alongside your display name.
Licence documents are used for verification and are not shown publicly.
What you share is up to you. Anything you tell another user in a message or at an appointment is shared with them. We cannot control what another user does with it, and we are not responsible for their handling of it.
Partner websites. Partner salons can display open needs in their service area on their own website using our widget. Where that happens, the request details you entered — service, area, date, budget and notes — are shown on that salon's site as well as on BelleIndex. Your email address and phone number are not included.
Because a missed appointment costs a business their time, BelleIndex keeps a rating of whether you keep your bookings, and shows it to businesses you book with. We think you should know exactly how it works.
A business you booked with can mark an appointment as missed. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start time counts as a late cancellation, worth half a missed appointment; cancelling earlier never counts. Appointments you keep count in your favour. Marks stop counting after 18 months, and any one business can add at most two marks to your rating.
Businesses you book with can see your rating. It is not public. You can see it yourself on your rating page, and you may choose to share it with someone through a link — if you do, anyone holding that link can view it until you stop sharing.
If you think a mark is wrong, you can dispute it from your rating page. The mark stops counting while we look into it. We remove marks we find to be inaccurate or made in bad faith. You can also ask us to explain any mark on your rating.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it with the business or customer you are dealing with, with the service providers listed below who operate parts of the platform on our behalf, and where we believe in good faith that the law requires it or that it is needed to protect someone's safety, to investigate fraud or abuse, or to enforce our Terms.
If the business changes hands. If BelleIndex is sold, merges with another business, or its assets are acquired, your information transfers to the new owner as part of it, and this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise. We will say so on the site if that happens.
We use a small number of outside services to run the platform. They act on our instructions and only for these purposes:
Our hosting provider, which stores the site, the database and uploaded files. Google, for translating pages and messages into your language — the text being translated is sent to Google and the result is stored on our servers so we do not have to send it again — and for turning an address you type into a location. Our payment processor, for credit purchases. Apple, to deliver notifications to the app on your device.
Paid placements on BelleIndex are labelled Ad. We count how often an ad is shown and clicked. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser's own site, where their privacy policy applies, not ours.
We keep your account details while your account is open. Requests, bookings and reviews are kept as part of your history while you are with us.
Marks on your rating stop counting after 18 months, so an old missed appointment stops affecting how businesses see you.
If you ask us to close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal details. Some things stay: records of a booking or a dispute while it could still be raised, anything the law requires us to hold on to, and copies inside routine backups until those age out. Reviews you wrote may remain published as part of the history of the business they describe.
You can see and edit your account details when signed in, ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct something, or ask us to delete your account. You can dispute any mark on your rating, and ask us to explain how it got there. You can turn off notifications in your device settings, and stop sharing your rating link at any time. Contact support and we will help.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights — to object to how we use your information, or to have a decision that affects you looked at by a person. Ask us and we will honour them.
BelleIndex uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and a preference cookie for your chosen language. Blocking them in your browser will stop sign-in from working. The app keeps the same sign-in session on your device.
You must be 18 or older to use BelleIndex. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we close accounts we learn belong to someone younger.
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections and hashed passwords, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.
If this policy changes materially we will ask you to review and accept it when you next use BelleIndex.
